Dear Families,

In an effort to keep communication open and transparent, I am notifying you of another positive case of COVID-19. This afternoon, we were notified that a student at the Middle/High School tested positive.

The individual was last present at school on December 3, 2020. The affected individual has been isolated and the Chautauqua County Department of Health (CCDOH) is contacting those individuals identified as close contacts.

Parents of students and staff who have been identified as close contacts were called by the school prior to sending out this communication.

Steps we are implementing in cooperation with the Chautauqua County Department of Health include:

  • Following the Chautauqua County Department of Health’s quarantine/isolation guidelines closely.
  • This individual and any individuals identified by the health department as being close contacts will not return to school until they have completed the quarantine/isolation procedures for COVID-19 as directed by the Chautauqua County Department of Health.
  • Thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting our school buildings and busses as we do

The District cannot release any further details due to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Health Insurance Portability & Accounting Act (HIPAA) requirements. However, we will provide further updates if additional steps need to be taken by the District.

Please continue to monitor your child for symptoms and have him/her stay home if sick. In addition, please contact your child’s healthcare provider if he/she develops symptoms or if you have any additional questions or concerns.

More information on the symptoms of COVID-19 can be found at https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/home or on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html.

Thank you again for your continued support as we work through these challenges. If you have questions regarding the information in this letter, please contact us.
