Hello and welcome to the occupational therapy site! My name is Emily Mann, and I am very excited to be working with the students at both RHJ and the Frewsburg MS/HS. I graduated from The University at Buffalo in 2011 with my Masters in Occupational Therapy. This is the beginning of my third year here at Frewsburg Central School and I'm so excited to begin this new school year with our students.
Occupational therapy in the schools has the unique opportunity to assist students with their individualized needs to improve their success within their classroom. OT can provide various adaptations to students seating, objects to assist with focus and attention, and various types of pencil grips and specialized paper to improve handwriting.
While in OT students work on the underlying skills that may be hindering their ability to work at the same level of their classmates while having fun. OT works towards improving visual skills, fine and gross motor skills, processing skills, organization, and sensory processing needs.
