Technology Vision
Frewsburg Central School District is committed to preparing students for a world shaped by rapid and continuous technological change. To thrive in this environment, students must not only be skilled with today’s tools but also ready to adapt to tomorrow’s innovations.
Our vision is twofold:
-
Empower students with practical, relevant technology skills that support learning, creativity, communication, and real-world application—in school, in the workplace, and in their personal growth.
-
Develop adaptable, resilient learners who can confidently integrate new technologies, think critically, and leverage digital tools to achieve their goals as socially responsible, digitally literate citizens.
We believe technology should be seamlessly integrated across all academic areas, enriching instruction rather than existing as a stand-alone subject. Instructional technology should support differentiated learning, allowing students to move at an appropriate pace, pursue areas of interest in greater depth, and extend their learning beyond traditional boundaries.
INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY GOALS
Goal 1: By June 2029, the district will implement a comprehensive AI-literacy program in grades 3–12 by providing annual professional development to 100% of certificated staff and integrating at least two grade-appropriate lessons on ethical and responsible AI use into each building’s instructional plan.
Goal 2: Develop and implement a K–12 curriculum aligned with the NYS Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards that builds student skills in social media marketing, TV/video production, digital storytelling, multimedia design, and emerging technology tools over a three-year period. Create a standards-aligned scope and sequence, at least 10 instructional units, and supporting rubrics, and pilot multiple units each year with feedback from teachers and students.
Goal 3: By the end of the 2029 school year, the district will strengthen research and media-literacy instruction by providing professional development to at least 100% of teachers and delivering a structured series of lessons to all students in grades 3–12, resulting in a documented increase in students’ ability to evaluate sources and navigate digital information. At least 80% of students in grades 3–12 will demonstrate proficiency in evaluating the credibility, relevance, and accuracy of digital sources—as measured by a district-developed rubric.
Goal 4: By June 2029, the District will implement a K–12 digital citizenship curriculum that provides instruction on online safety, responsible communication, and appropriate digital behavior, with the goal of reducing cyberbullying-related discipline referrals by 20% compared to the baseline (2025-2026 levels). Monthly monitoring of referrals will track progress for all students in grades K–12.
INFRASTRUCTURE TECHNOLOGY GOALS
Goal 1: Sustain a robust and future proof infrastructure to facilitate instructional goals set forth by the District.
Goal 2: Technology will be used to enhance communication and interaction with parents, families, and community.
Goal 3: Technology will be used to increase building security for students and staff members.
