First Grade

The first grade teachers would like to welcome you to the 2009-2010 school year.  Daily communication will come home in a blue folder with the student and should be returned on the next school day.

This year we will be working on Math and Reading skills.These are the highlights and our expectations in reading:

• Beginning sounds
• Short and long vowels
• Spelling words
• High frequency sight words
• Weekly take home books

These are the highlights and our expectations in math:

• Beginning addition and subtraction
• Patterning
• Time and money skills
• Counting by 2's 5's and 10's
• Word problems
